2. Rights Reserved by Author
By retaining the copyright to your Article, you are reserving for yourself the right to publish the Article or permit it to be published by other publishers subject to certain anthology and periodical rights given to Journal of Data and Information Science in the following paragraph. You agree to make future publishing agreements involving the Article contingent on the appropriate first publication credit being given to Journal of Data and Information Science for the final, copyedited version. You will ensure that any future publication of the Article authorized by you includes appropriate first publication credit to Journal of Data and Information Science.
3. License to Journal Owner
You hereby grant to Journal Owner a nonexclusive license to publish the Article in all media and formats throughout the world and as part of such license you give us the exclusive right of first publication in English for the final, copyedited version. You will ensure that any future publication of the Article authorized by you includes appropriate first publication credit to Journal of Data and Information Science and Journal Owner. Journal Owner is responsible for the dissemination of Journal of Data and Information Science and its contents in various ways. For example, but without limitation, we have standing agreements with educational photocopying, abstract/indexing, and discovery services which reach many people and institutions. We also have agreements that encompass document delivery and inclusion of Journal of Data and Information Science in electronic databases and discovery platforms. You hereby authorize us to license the Article in any manner in which we license the contents of any issue of Journal of Data and Information Science generally, with the understanding that all uses are allowed via the terms of distribution of your Article under a CC BY license.
4. Warranties
You warrant that the Article has not been previously published anywhere in English, that you are the sole author(s) of the Article, and that you have a complete and unencumbered right to make the grants you make to us, including the use in the Article of all photographic material submitted by you with your text. You also warrant that the Article does not libel anyone, violate any rights of privacy, or publicity, or invade anyone's copyright or otherwise violate any statutory or common law right to anyone. You agree to hold harmless and indemnify Journal Owner against any claim, demand, suit, action, proceeding, recovery or expense of any nature whatsoever arising from any claim of infringement of copyrights or proprietary rights based upon or arising out of any matter or thing contained in the Article.
5. 3rd Party Copyrighted Content
If your Article contains third party copyrighted material (images, illustrations, etc.) that you do not own copyright to, please check this box to confirm that you have obtained and submitted a copy of the required releases for republication under a CC BY license. You must include proper copyright notice as required by the original copyright holder. Unless you have provided copyright notice or a credit line that attributes the content to another copyright holder, the terms of this agreement will govern that content as well.
6. In Conclusion
This is the entire agreement between us, and it may be modified only in writing. It will bind and benefit our respective successors in interest, including assignees, and our licensees, provided that you may not assign this Agreement without our prior written consent. It will terminate if we do not publish your Article within two years of the date of your signature(s).
