4th Annual Data Driven Knowledge Discovery Symposium: Promoting Research Integrity  - Directions, Data, Tools and Approaches

Toward a globally aligned approach to promoting and supporting research integrity

Upholding research integrity and addressing academic misconduct are global issues that require input and participation from researchers, funders, policymakers, publishers and other key members of the scholarly research community. While most would broadly agree that research integrity is critical to the advancement of scholarly research, there is a need for greater international communication and alignment around how to research integrity and how to best promote and support it.

One important way to advance this global conversation is to enable greater engagement between members of the international research community and their counterparts in China, which as the world’s largest source of scholarly publications has a clear interest in supporting research integrity both domestically and internationally.

This December 14th-15th, key stakeholders from China and the international research community will come together on in Zhuhai, China for the fourth annual Data-Driven Knowledge Discovery Symposium, which this year is focused on “Promoting Research Integrity – Directions, Data, Tools and Approaches.” The conference is jointly organized by the Journal of Data and Information Science (JDIS), the Department of Scientometrics and Research Evaluation of the Chinese Academy of Sciences National Science Library (CAS NSL), the CAS NSL Research Integrity Research Center, and the International Science Center of Complex Systems of Beijing Normal University.

Participants include representatives from leading Chinese universities and research institutes, Chinese and international publishers, international research integrity groups, commercial organizations serving scholarly research and other important community stakeholders. Conference presenters will share recent progress in research integrity development and best practices as well identifying key challenges.

This conference will provide a forum for a substantive exchange of views on research integrity, including ways to better promote and align efforts across countries and regions. Attendees, whether presenting or in the audience, will be encouraged to share views, experiences, best practices and suggestions on how to tackle the big challenges facing research integrity today.
